Ski area Kranzberg - Mittenwald

The Kranzberg - Mittenwald ski area in the Bavarian Alps is an ideal destination for families and leisure skiers in winter. At an altitude of 980 to 1,350 metres, there are a total of 15 kilometres of piste, most of which are divided into easy (6 km) and intermediate (7 km) descents. From the mountain station at Hoher Kranzberg (1,391 metres), a 2 km long black piste for experts winds its way down into the valley. The same applies to the 2 km of ski routes, which are best explored with a local mountain guide or in a group. The ski area is served by seven lift systems, including a modern chair lift.

A highlight for families in the Kranzberg - Mittenwald ski area is Bruno's children's ski park, which has been specially designed for the youngest skiers. Here, children can safely gain their first experience on skis under the guidance of local ski instructors. And winter sports enthusiasts are also well catered for, whether during or after a long day of skiing, with numerous places to stop for refreshments in the ski area. Huts and guesthouses on the edge of the piste invite you to take a well-earned break with regional culinary specialities against an impressive mountain backdrop.

With the "Top Snow Card" as an included lift pass, it's not just the Mittenwald pistes that remain open here. Skiers and snowboarders have a total of 213 kilometres of piste (incl. ski routes) at their disposal, including in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and on the Austrian side in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena, which are served by 78 lift systems and at an altitude of 732 to 2,720 m (see ski region).

Night skiing Kranzberg - Mittenwald

If you still want to hit the piste after dark, you can do so in the Kranzberg - Mittenwald ski area. There, the blue descent at Luttensee (1,058 m) is equipped with floodlights, which illuminate the piste and the t-bar lift on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm during the ski season.

Après ski Kranzberg - Mittenwald

A proper après ski is of course also possible in the Kranzberg - Mittenwald ski area. Either in the pubs and bars in the village itself, in the huts on the pistes or in a classic-style umbrella bar at the valley station. The first place to go for loud music, cool drinks and a good atmosphere in Mittenwald is "Peppi's Schiglu" between Kinderland and Luttensee. Winter sports enthusiasts who want to end the day in a more relaxed atmosphere are in good hands in the restaurants in the village, which offer regional and international Kitchen. Pure partying is also the order of the day in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where after a 30-minute journey (26 km from Mittenwald) there are several clubs and other leisure facilities such as cinemas.

In contrast, the ski area itself is much faster, with a 1.5 km long natural toboggan run that sledging fans can "experience" to their heart's content. But it can also be more relaxed, literally. After all, there are not only cross-country trails to discover around the village, but also kilometres of winter hiking trails with views of the Karwendel mountain range. And if you want to relax a little more, treat yourself to spa treatments or a sauna session in one of the well-equipped accommodations after a leisurely stroll through Mittenwald's old town.
