Cross-country Mittenwald

Cross-country trails (in km):
Mittenwald in the Alpenwelt Karwendel attracts cross-country skiers with over 150 km of well-groomed trails that stretch through the sunny valley to Krün and Wallgau. These include the 18 km long Kranzberg trail with breathtaking views of the Karwendel mountains. The Isar trail, which - as the name suggests - runs for 10 kilometres through the Isar valley and is ideal for beginners, is also very scenic. The Wildensee trail, on the other hand, is moderately difficult for hobby cross-country skiers and runs for 15 kilometres through idyllic forests and across open fields. If you don't have your own equipment, you can hire equipment at one of the many hire stations and head out on the trail under the guidance of the staff at the local cross-country skiing schools. There are also cosy huts and inns along the trails where you can stop for a bite to eat.
And that's not all when it comes to Nordic skiing in the home of biathlon superstar Magdalena Neuner. From December to March, anyone interested can try out biathlon every Wednesday between 11am and 1pm. At the biathlon facility in Krün, participants head to the cross-country ski trail and the shooting range, where experienced instructors teach cross-country skiers the basics of the winter duathlon. The only requirement for participants is that they must be at least 18 years old and bring their own cross-country skiing equipment.
