Ski area Merano 2000

On the sunny side of the Alps "Meran 2000" offers a compact ski area with 40 km of piste. Most of these are easy to intermediate skiing and extend from Falzeben (1,680 m) right up to the peak of the Kesselberg at 2,350 m. The 3.5 km long piste from Piffing to Falzeben is lit up once a week and therefore guarantees piste fun until late at night.

Children will find a ski kindergarten and a specialised children's ski school (awarded with "Spezialisierte Kinderskischule Südtirol") in Meran 2000, with baby lift for learning and practising with the ski tutors. "Luckis Kinderland", located at the mountain station, is another fact to add to the family-friendliness of this resort. The little ones will find 3 magic carpets and a number of wide, flat pistes to try out first skills or just jump around and have fun, whilst the parents can sit on the terrace of the panorama bistro and watch them from a safe distance.

Wallowers will appreciate the Kesselberg and Rotwand pistes, whilst more experienced skiers and snowboarders can try themselves on the Mittagerpiste. Freestylers will find a snow park at the Wallpach piste with rails, jumps and tables to run riot on. Catering comes in form of cosy mountain huts dotted all round the ski area, offering a great selection of Southern Tyrolean specialities and hearty snacks. Various floodlight pistes and huts are open until late into the evening and invite you to enjoy some night skiing.

Rules of conduct on ski pistes in Italy

To ensure safety on the ski slopes in Italy, stricter safety regulations have been in force since 2022. In order to use the ski areas, everyone must have liability insurance that covers damage to third parties. It will also be possible to take out this insurance on site for individual days. Drunken skiing is prohibited and punishable by heavy fines, with a maximum of 0.5 mg of alcohol per litre of blood. To reduce the risk of injury, helmets are also compulsory for all minors when skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing.
