The Thuringian Forest is known to be a real cross-country paradise, since it offers up to 200 km of trails and one of the most popular ski hiking/ski touring trails in Germany, the Rennsteig, with its 142 km total length.
Friedrichroda itself offers a total of 17 km of trails and 25 km of ski hiking tracks. The longest and most attractive route is located in the district Finsterbergen and runs idyllically through the forested region.
