Ski area Tignes - Val d'Isère

In Val d'Isère, the home of the three-time Olympic champion Jean-Claude Killy, you can directly step into a massive ski area. The "Tignes - Val d'Isère" lift pass grants you access to a total of 300 km of piste at an altitude between 1,550 m - 3,456 m as well as two first-class summer ski areas and a few other specials.

The ski area of Val d'Isère itself holds 150 km of piste and 37 modern lifts. The area offers many wide pistes for beginners looking to try out their skills at Bellevard and Col de Fresse. The Plateau des Pissaillas glacier also draws in beginners with its easy niveau. This is also confirmed through its ownership of the "Famille Plus" seal of excellence, ensuring that the legendary runs are also especially family-friendly and provide a great source of childcare services. In Tignes, beginners can practice at the Col du Paletas well as on the green and blue pistes on the upper-half of Tignes-Le Lac. More demanding skiers can find their area of choice up at the Grande Motte glacier ski area, where excellent views and steep runs await you at an altitude of 3,456 m. Secured and monitored deep snow slopes in Vallon de la Sache make for a true paradise in the ski area around Tignes for freeriders and diversified winter sports fans. Here, you can conquer a length of 2.8 km over a 1,198 m difference in altitude.

For snowboarders and free skiers, several diverse snowparks can be found throughout the entire area as well as a half pipe at the valley station in Tignes (see "Snowpark") and directly above the giant free ride zone, "Le Spot", with a boardercross setup among other great elements. From the valley station, you can already take in the view of the Grande Motte glacier peak (3,656 m) and its steep runs. Experts will love the "La Face de Bellevard" run in the area around Val d'Isère: The difficult piste runs along just about 3 km length and over 959 m difference in altitude! Things turn cosier up on the pistes of Tovière, from Col de Fresse down into La Daille and on the "Santons run", of which leads down into the resort centre. On the "La Grande Motte" glacier in Tignes as well as on the "Pointe du Montet" in Val d'Isère, you'll also find satisfactory snow conditions from June to September.

Just in time for the start of the 2016/17 winter season, the new 10-person cable car, „Solaise“, will be making its debut as a replacement for the Solaise-Express. The new cable car allows for a transport capacity increase of 40 percent and drastically reduces waiting times. Not only that, there's also seated heats and Wi-Fi available in the cable car as well!

Additionally, the ski area boasts a good infrastructure thanks to its several free Wi-Fi hotspots located at various mountain and valley stations.

Après ski Val d'Isère

With its restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs and cafés as well as all the other offers a winter sports fan may need, Val d'Isère is well equipped for great aprés ski. The parties begin even before the lifts make the day's last run, and often extend long into the night. One can begin the evening with a drink in the "Boubou Bar" or in the modern "Cafe Face". If you are not falling into bed after that, you can continue the party in clubs such as the "Le Graal" or "Dicks Tea Bar" until well into the morning hours.

Those who are looking for "off-mountain" sport opportunities will enjoy the ice rink or the sports hall, which includes a climbing wall and various sports courts. A highlight for families and children is the 12km long toboggan run at the Savonette lift.

Snowpark: Val d'Isere Snowpark, Gliss'Park, Gletscher Park, Swatch Snowpark, Acticross Val d'Isère

With the lift "Tignes - Val d'Isère" you have access to an extended fun sports offer. Let's start with the Oakley sponsored snow park "Val d'Isère Snowpark". It is located at 2,300 m altitude between Val d'Isere and Tigens, close to the "Montblanc" chair lift at the Bellevarde. There are four different lines to practise on: a green one, a blue one, a red one and a black one - all offering rails, kickers and boxes for all levels of skill. Further, at the Borsat lift in Val d'Isère there is a boardercross run with funslope elements available. The "Acticross" offers a range of obstacles, such as e.g. the super-tunnel and a wave ride. If a whole day of action sports has worn you out and you are needing something to eat, you can swing by the "Chill Chalet" to grab a juicy piece of BBQ meat.

We continue on to Tignes, where you have access to three different snow parks: the large "Swatch Snowpark" located between 2,400 and 2,600 m, the smaller "Gliss'Park" directly at the resort, and the Tignes "Galcier Snowpark". In the "Swatch Park" there are 16 kickers and various rails of all difficulties, where everybody can have a go at showing off skills. No matter if hobby rider or pro on the board, there are sufficient obstacles and kickers to practise on. A special highlight is the Swatch "Shoot my Ride" function, with which you can have your jumps (e.g. on to the AirBag) filmed and you can watch it later on the huge screen in the "Swatch Cool Zone".

The smaller "Gliss Park" in Tignes itself also offers great practise facilities for both beginners and advanced. There are various lines here, as well as a boardercross, an obstacle line and parallel slalom. The park also offers a huge AirBag. Between January and April, a monster half-pipe is shapes in Tignes, which is the venue for international championships.

On the glacier "Grande Motte" at 3,456 m altitude the Tignes "Glacier Snowpark" provides various kickers, rails, boxes or woops to be tried out by beginners or pros, in front of an impressive backdrop. This park can also welcome its riders in summer, so you can test your skills here all year round. Further, the lines are regularly reshaped and modified to ensure enough diversity and therefore the rides definitely won't become boring so quickly.
