The region Oisans is located in the French high alpine country and offers the majestic peak Barre des Écrins (4,102 m), the most southern of the Alpine 4,000-er mountains. Further to the South, the Mediterranean Alps join into the massif and become gradually lower towards Cote d'Azur. The region includes the popular massifs of Belldonne, Écrins and Grandes Rousses. Cycling enthusiasts will know the region due to the Tour de France, as here are some of the most challenging legs, e.g. like the route to Alpe d'Huez.
