Cross-country Windischgarsten

The Pyhrn-Priel region offers cross-country skiers around 120 kilometres of trails, including sporty skating-style and high altitude cross-country ski trails. There are around 28 kilometres of cross-country trails in the Stodertal valley around Hinterstoder. The Hinterstoder cross-country trail runs for 24 kilometres through the valley and offers great views of the surrounding peaks of the Totes Gebirge. The varied route leads across meadows, along the river and through wooded areas and is lined with several refreshment stops.

A cross-country skiing highlight is the high altitude cross-country ski trail on the Hutterer Böden in the Hinterstoder Höss ski area. It is located at approx. 1,400 metres and is prepared for classic-style and skating-style skiing over its entire length of 3.5 km. The cross-country trail can be reached via the toll road or with the 10-seater gondola lift (with a valid lift pass). There is a fee for using the cross-country ski trail. Season tickets can also be purchased.
