Grosseck/Speiereck - Mauterndorf/St. Michael Ski area
Right in Mauterndorf, you’ll find the entrance to the Speiereck ski area, which offers 50 kilometres of varied slopes. Here you can enjoy the run down from Speiereck to St. Michael, which, with a vertical drop of 1,300 metres and a length of around 9 kilometres, is a real highlight.
The resort is ideally suited to both families with children and experienced skiers. The most beautiful slopes are found below the Speiereck, which – apart from the glacier ski areas – is the highest point in Salzburg accessible by lift. The extensive snow-making facilities guarantee reliable snow cover when temperatures are suitable.
The "Lungo Winter Card" lift pass, newly introduced for the 2025/2026 season, gives you access to over 250 kilometres of slopes across the four ski areas of Katschberg/Aineck, Speiereck, Fanningberg and Obertauern, as well as the Lessach, Zederhaus, Schönfeld and Krakau lifts.
A special offer is also the possibility of ski touring with floodlighting on the Grosseck - every Wednesday from 16:00 - 20:30 the descent is open for ski tourers!

There are numerous typical mountain huts and restaurants right in the Mauterndorf ski centre. Visit the "Schi Alm", for example. In addition to warm Kitchen, you can end the evening in a cosy atmosphere with regular theme and speciality evenings. A Schialmtaxi will take you there and back in comfort. In the "Panorama Alm" restaurant, you can also enjoy not only traditional Austrian specialities, but also the breathtaking panoramic views to the full. If you're in a party mood after skiing and prefer atmospheric après ski, the Fliegenpilz umbrella bar is the ideal meeting place.
Alternatives to skiing can also be found. The floodlit winter hiking trail is ideal for a relaxing walk to the historic town centre of Mauterndorf. You can also plan a detour to Mauterndorf Castle. The 500 metre-long, floodlit toboggan run is a faster option. Or do your laps on the natural ice rink. Mauterndorf also has a varied weekly programme to keep you entertained.
For those who want to take it a little easier, a trip to nearby Tamsweg is a good idea. The BadeINSEL spa centre there has an indoor pool as well as a sauna and wellness area.

In the Katschberg-Aineck ski area, there is a small but excellent fun park where both beginners and freestyle experts will feel right at home. Various obstacles such as rails and boxes, a corner and even a (small) half-pipe await you.
