Cross-country Galtür
Information on cross-country skiing
80 km Cross-country trails (in km):
The L.5 Galtür-Wirl trail from Galtür to the valley station of the lifts in Wirl is 5.5 km long and, thanks to its moderately challenging climbs, is perfectly suited to sporty tours. The route to Ischgl, just under 6 km long, is also perfect for leisurely cross-country skiing: it runs alongside the Trisanna River and climbs only slightly, with an elevation gain of 110 m.
The circular routes into the Jamtal valley and, past the Silvretta reservoir, to the Bieler Höhe are particularly scenic – but be warned, a sporting spirit is required here: in each direction, the route is either all uphill or a brisk downhill run! A particular highlight is the 18.5 km high-altitude trail L.10 Bielerhöhe to and around the Silvretta reservoir at 2,040 metres.
The homologated FIS trail in Galtür, on the other hand, is a sporting challenge. The L.6 FIS Galtür race trail is 3.7 km long and features numerous climbs and descents, making it ideal for training and competitions.
Cross-country skiers who still haven’t had their fill even after dark are in luck: on the approximately 2.2 km-long, floodlit L.5 Galtür–Wirl trail between Galtür and Wirl, guests can make their tracks until 22:00 under a clear starry sky and in perfect snow conditions. There is also the 5 km-long L.1 Ischgl trail, which is also floodlit until 21:30. Whether you prefer classic style or skating – cross-country skiers are in their element here!
The Galtür trail network has been awarded the Trail Quality Seal.
