Ski area Kaunertaler Glacier - Fendels
In Fendels, beginners will mainly find easy and medium-difficulty slopes. Children can let off steam in Bibiland. One particularly beautiful piste is the valley run, which leads past idyllic larch forests. For experienced skiers, the Planggerlift also opens up some steep and sporty runs. Once a week, the fun on the piste is extended into the evening.
On the Kaunertal Glacier, winter sports enthusiasts can ski between 2,180 and 3,108 metres above sea level. Thanks to Austria's highest post bus stop, you can even take the post bus up to 2,750 metres above sea level. The glacier ski area is known for its pleasantly wide and relatively flat pistes. However, it is also particularly popular with freestylers - thanks to the snow park at 2,990 metres - and with freeriders, who can find around 30 km of off-piste runs here. There is also free Wi-Fi in the snow park and in the restaurants.
Night skiing Feichten
From Fendels the next night ski area is not far away. It is not located at Kauner Valley Glacier, but in the family-friendy ski area Fendels on the opposite side of the mountain. This is where the popular night skiing takes place in Kauner Valley. Every Thursday, night owls meet up for skiing by night-time at the Sattelboden lift. During the extended opening hours from 19:00 to 22:00, the red piste "Nordabfahrt" is illuminated by floodlight. The piste is 2.5 km long and it is illuminated from Sattelboden down to the valley station. After night skiing, you can make another stop at the popular "Bauernschmaus" all you can eat. Toboggan fans can look forward to an additional 4.5 toboggan run that is illuminated until 22:30. Seperate night ski passes can be acquired in resort.Après ski Feichten
The programme is rounded off by going night tobogganing or night skiing (Thursdays in the ski area Fendels), ice skating or curling. The 4.5 long nature toboggan of the the lifts of Fendels, which even received the Tyrolean seal of approval is recommendable. The 2 km long toboggan run also offers night tobogganing with a hot mulled wine party once a week. Those who prefer it quieter will find approx. 20 km of winter hiking trails through the romantic winter landscape on offer. If you rather are looking for some action you can try yourself on the frozen waterfalls. In winter there are various possibilities for ice climbing to be found there.
Snowpark: Snowpark Kaunertal Feichten
You are looking for a very special freestyle experience, the latest obstacles and the possibility to enjoy a snowpark at every level? Then the "Snowpark Kaunertal" is the right one for you! From autumn 2018 a new snowpark a.k.a. "The Nature Run" will be at your disposal. It leads from the mountain station of the Karlesjochbahn (railway) over different paths back to the gondola.
The different kicker and obstacle lines of the park can be easily combined with each other. As a newcomer to the field, you'll get the best entry points on minishreds with simple jibs and jumps, while at the same time you can learn from the pros of the scene.
Several lines with more than 20 different elements make freestyle hearts beat faster. From the Pro-, Medium - & Easy-Kicker Line, Hips, 6 m Wallride, a Jib Line with over 16 "back2back" features up to the "snake run" there is something for everyone. The freestyle fun at the Kaunertal Glacier lasts even longer than in most other ski areas: The legendary "Spring Classics" also offer the opportunity to shred again in April and May.
For those who want to share their latest tricks with friends right away, the park even offers free Wi-Fi.
